More than 135 years ago Friedrich Grillo founded the Schalker Eisenhütte.
The company began by producing machines and machine components for a variety
of applications.
Thanks to Schalker technology, the total mechanisation of coke oven plants
had already been achieved by the end of the 19th century. Today SCHALKE develops,
designs and produces fully automated coke oven machinery and is the world
leader in this market.
65 years after they were founded, SCHALKE began to develop and produce locomotives.
Rail vehicles from SCHALKE are now in use all over the world in underground and
open-cast mines and also prove their prowess around the globe in special operations
as shunting, cargo or tunnel locomotives.
